If you’ve been to Alicante, maybe it’s time to go a little further northeast and experience another town in Spain. Javea is located just between Denia and Altea. The location is easy to reach, by flying into the popular Alicante airport and then sourcing ground transportation from there.
When it comes to natural beauty, Javea has a lot to offer. First, it is right between two bays – Cabo San Antonio and Cabo San Martin. The weather if beautiful year-round, which the average range at 40 degrees Celsius during the summer months and mild winters that rarely go below 10 degrees Celsius.
This one city offers three distinct settings of places to stay. There is of course the beach area, then the port area and also the village.
Most popular is the beach area. Since there are so many visitors who want to spend time at the pristine beaches, in the summer tourists are pouring into the hotels and rental apartments in this area.
The port area, meanwhile, is quite the bustling location as well. There are a number of restaurants, bars and attractions in this area that will keep you busy.
If you want something a little more low-key, you may wish to consider the village. This area is inland from the port by about 3 km. If you are the wandering type of tourist this may be the perfect location for you. There are a number of small shops in the vicinity that you can browse, as well as local eateries. This would be the place to stay if you really want to ‘live as the Spanish do’. There are a number of apartments or villas that you can rent from the property owner or through a travel agent in this region.
What to See around the Costa Blanca
This area has a lot of history. There are many old churches, including The Inglesia de San Bartolome. This particular church was built in the twelfth century and is an awe-inspiring landmark.
The treasure of Javea can be viewed in the Soler Blasco Museum. Among the treasure, jewellery that has been in the region from century to century. If you want to really get a great look at Javea, you will need to take a little climb. You can either walk or drive up to Cabo de Nao San Martin, which is a small hill that has a lighthouse on top. The view is worth the walk.
Those in love with nature also have something to gain from a trip to Javea. On the sea side of Javea is the Montgo nature park, which is overflowing with beautiful flora and fauna. In addition to the rare plant species, you will also likely be able to catch a glimpse of some of the rare birds that call this cultural heritage site home.Even duffers will enjoy a trip to Javea. The area has a number of golf course and even golf resorts so you never have to be too far from the greens.
